To accomplish this, TransCanada proposes to convert an existing underutilized natural gas pipeline to transport crude oil from producers in Western Canada to refineries in Quebec, together with a potential new pipeline that would further extend to Saint John, New Brunswick, the home of the Irving Oil refinery, Canada's largest, with a production capacity in excess of 300,000 barrels per day.
