Points out that it is necessary to increase funding for research and development in the field of poverty-related, tropical and neglected diseases with the participation of public-private partnerships and other possible funding ventures, and to support research institutes willing to cooperate in public health initiatives dedicated to these efforts and pursuing research into and development of, medicines of special relevance to developing countries;

As regards the battle against AIDS, the Ministers will discuss the epidemiological situation in the Community on the basis of a report drawn up by the Institute for African and Tropical Medicine and Epidemiology in Paris. It is planned that the Council should approve draft conclusions on the setting up of a periodical and rapid exchange of epidemiological data at Community level through the Institute referred to above.
En ce qui concerne la lutte contre le Sida, les ministres auront un échange de vues sur la situation épidémiologique dans la Communauté sur la base d'un rapport élaboré par l'Institut de médecine et d'épidémiologie africaines et tropicales à Paris.Il est prévu que le Conseil des ministres approuve un projet de conclusions concernant l'instauration d'un échange périodique et rapide des données épidémiologiques au niveau de la Communauté, par l'intermédiaire de l'Institut précité.
