This allowed the TMG to monitor the transition to civil rule mainly through the placing of 10.000 Nigerian electoral monitors for each of the three principal elections in 1999: not only on 20 February (National Assembly) and 27 February (Presidential) but also on 9 January (State Assembly).

H. whereas, in his time firstly as Prime Minister and subsequently as a member of the National Assembly, Sergei Stanishev submitted two written statements to the Speaker of the National Assembly in which he consented to criminal proceedings being opened against him in accordance with Article 70(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria;

Ensure a transparent election for the future SJC, with a public hearing in the National Assembly before the election of the members of the parliamentary quota, and giving civil society the possibility to make observations on the candidates. Establish a track record of transparent and merit-based appointments to high–level judicial posts, including the upcoming appointment of a new President of the Supreme Administrative Court. To improve the practical functioning of the ISJC and the follow-up by the Supreme Judicial Council to the inspectorate's findings, in particular on integrity issues, consider soliciting external assistance, for example from the SRSS and/or Council of Europe. Adopt amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Criminal Code to improve the legal framework for the prosecution of high-level corruption and serious organised crime. Publish a report for public consultation detailing the progress made implementing the national judicial reform strategy and setting out the remaining steps to be taken.
veiller à la transparence de l'élection du futur Conseil supérieur de la magistrature, au moyen d'une audition publique à l'Assemblée nationale avant l'élection des membres du quota parlementaire et en donnant à la société civile la possibilité de formuler des observations sur les candidats; obtenir des résultats probants en matière de nomination à des fonctions judiciaires à haut niveau, dans la transparence et en se basant sur le mérite, notamment en ce qui concerne la nomination à venir du nouveau président de la Cour administrative suprême; améliorer le fonctionnement pratique de l'Inspection du Conseil supérieur de la magistrature et le suivi donné par le Conseil supérieur de la magistrature aux constatations de l'Inspection, en particulier pour ce qui est des questions d'intégrité, et envisager de solliciter une assistance extérieure, par exemple auprès du service d'appui à la réforme structurelle et/ou du Conseil de l'Europe; adopter les modifications du code de procédure pénale et du code pénal, afin d'améliorer le cadre juridique des poursuites pour corruption à haut niveau et formes graves de criminalité organisée; publier un rapport à des fins de consultation publique exposant les progrès réalisés dans la mise en œuvre de la stratégie nationale de réforme du système judiciaire et définissant les mesures restant à prendre.

The JURI Committee as the committee responsible had informed the President that, in the light of the election of Marine Le Pen to the French National Assembly, the request for the waiver of her immunity which had been announced in plenary on 26 April 2017(minutes of 26.4.2017, item 6) no longer had a rationale, since Marine Le Pen no longer enjoyed immunity under the Protocol on the privileges and immunities of the European Union.
La commission JURI, compétente en la matière, a informé le Président que, compte tenu de l'élection de Marine Le Pen à l'Assemblée nationale française, la demande de levée de son immunité annoncée en plénière le 26 avril 2017(point 6 du PV du 26.4.2017) n'a plus de raison d'être, puisque Marine Le Pen ne bénéficie plus d'immunité en vertu du Protocole sur les privilèges et immunités de l'Union européenne.

Urges the Cambodian authorities to revoke the arrest warrant for, and drop all charges against, opposition leader Sam Rainsy and CNRP members of the National Assembly and Senate, including Senator Hong Sok Hour; calls for the immediate release of the five human rights defenders still in preventive custody, namely Ny Sokha, Nay Vanda, Yi Soksan, Lim Mony and Ny Chakra, for these politicians, activists and human rights defenders to be allowed to work freely without fear of arrest or persecution, and for an end to political use of the courts to prosecute people on politically motivated and trumped-up charges; calls on the National Assembly to reinstate Sam Rainsy, Um Sam An and Hong Sok Hour immediately and to restore their parliamentary immunity.
