Thus, in 2009 the Committee endorsed Diana Wallis' Working Document on the EC Communication on "An area of freedom, security and justice serving the citizens" - the so-called "Stockholm Program".

Diana Wallis, Vice-President of the European Parliament said: “I feel that we have finally accomplished a goal our working group set ourselves several years ago, and today, by launching this joint register for interest representatives between the Commission and the Parliament, I hope that we will help to instil a more solid culture of transparency in Brussels”.
Diana Wallis, vice‑présidente du Parlement européen, s'est quant à elle exprimée en ces termes: «J'estime que nous avons finalement atteint un objectif que notre groupe de travail s'était fixé il y a plusieurs années déjà, et j'espère qu'aujourd'hui, le lancement par la Commission et le Parlement européen de ce registre commun pour les représentants d'intérêt contribuera à instaurer une culture de la transparence plus solide à Bruxelles».

Progress is still needed in respect to the recognition of the importance of petitions for the work of the Commission in the monitoring the implementation of EU law (See Opinion and Working Document by Diana Wallis on behalf of the Committee) Thus, in its Annual Report on the application of EU law, the Commission has still failed to properly acknowledge the role of petitions in detecting infringements.
Des progrès sont encore souhaitables en ce qui concerne la reconnaissance de l'importance des pétitions pour le travail de la Commission, en particulier le contrôle de l'application du droit communautaire (Voir l'avis et le document de travail de Diana Wallis au nom de la Commission des pétitions). Dès lors, dans son rapport annuel sur l'application du droit communautaire, la Commission a négligé, une fois encore, de reconnaître à sa juste valeur, l'importance des pétitions dans la détection des infractions.
