TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

– having regard to the Presidency Conclusions of the European Council of 14/15 December 2006, which fully support Martti Ahtisaari's efforts towards a solution of the status question and reaffirm the Union's readiness to play a significant role in the implementation of the future status settlement,

Another argument against providing clarity right now is the question as to why it is we in this House who have to lead the way, as to why we should be the first European institution to be so clear about the final outcome, and on that subject, I should like to say that, since last Monday, someone else has been taking over the lead, namely Martti Ahtisaari, the Secretary-General’s special envoy, who said in his recommendation to the Security Council that ‘the status of Kosovo should be independence supervised by the international community’.
Un autre argument contre une clarification de la situation tout de suite prend la forme de la question suivante: pourquoi la tâche de pionnier doit-elle nous revenir à nous, députés européens, pourquoi devrions-nous être la première institution européenne à s’exprimer sans ambiguïté sur le résultat final? D’ailleurs, à ce sujet, je voudrais dire que, depuis lundi dernier, quelqu’un d’autre a repris le flambeau. Il s’agit de Martti Ahtisaari, l’envoyé spécial du secrétaire général des Nations unies. En effet, lors de sa recommandation au Conseil de sécurité, il a déclaré qu’«en ce qui concerne le statut du Kosovo, il convient de privilégier l’indépendance supervisée par la communauté internationale».
