130. Strongly condemns attacks against Christians in several countries around the world and expresses solidarity with the victims’ families; is deeply concerned about the growing number of episodes of repression, discrimination, intolerance and violent attacks against Christian communities, in particular in Africa, Asia and the Middle East; further calls on governments to bring all those responsible to justice; is deeply concerned about the current situation of Christians in North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Nigeria and many other countries, where Christians live in fear of being killed, face torture, rape and abduction and see their churches damaged or destroyed;
130. condamne fermement les attaques dirigées contre les chrétiens dans plusieurs pays du monde et exprime sa solidarité avec les familles des victimes; exprime sa profonde inquiétude face au nombre croissant de cas de répression, de discrimination, d'intolérance et d'attaques violentes contre des communautés chrétiennes, en particulier en Afrique, en Asie et au Moyen-Orient; demande aux gouvernements de traduire les responsables en justice; est profondément préoccupé par la situation actuelle des chrétiens en Corée du Nord, en Somalie, en Syrie, en Irak, en Afghanistan, en Arabie saoudite, au Pakistan, en Ouzbékistan, au Yémen, au Nigéria et dans de nombreux autres pays, où les chrétiens vivent dans la crainte d'être tués, sont confrontés à la torture, au viol et aux enlèvements et où leurs églises sont endommagées ou détruites;

Welcomes the assessment by human rights organisations that the use of the death penalty in 2011 broadly confirms the global trend towards abolition; welcomes Thailand’s abolition of the death penalty for offenders under 18; regrets, however, that there was a significant increase in executions in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia; expresses serious disappointment at the refusal of China to disclose credible information about its use of death penalty and executions that, according to Amnesty International, number in the thousands; welcomes the abolition of the death penalty in the US state of Illinois but regrets that the United States continues to execute people despite being the only G8 country to do so in 2011; recalls with concern that Belarus is the only European country to continue use the death penalty; urges the EU and its Member States consistently to bring this issue up as a matter of priority in their dialogues with these countries;

Emphasises that the proliferation of external operations in recent years, whether in Iraq, Afghanistan or Africa, including Libya, has represented, and continues to represent, a significant financial burden for those states that have participated – or are still participating – in these operations; notes that these costs have a direct impact on the attrition and premature wear and tear of equipment, but also on the willingness of states to engage in CSDP operations, given the constraints on their budgets and capabilities;
72. souligne notamment que la multiplication des opérations extérieures ces dernières années, que ce soit en Irak, en Afghanistan ou en Afrique, y compris en Libye, a représenté et représente encore une charge financière importante pour les États qui ont participé ou participent encore à ces opérations; note que ces coûts ont une incidence directe sur l'attrition et l'usure prématurée des équipements, mais également sur la volonté des États à s'engager dans des opérations de la PSDC au regard de leurs contraintes budgétaires et capacitaires;

Reiterates the importance of the promotion by both partners, in a spirit of trust and transparency, of coordinated approaches in their policies towards Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan; believes that the experience over the past decade of military involved in countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq have to be evaluated; calls on the EU and the US to continue work on a comprehensive global strategy which favours socio-economic and sustainable development, highlighting in particular the enhancement of women;
9. insiste sur l'importance pour les deux partenaires de promouvoir, dans un esprit de confiance et de transparence, des approches coordonnées de leurs politiques vis-à-vis de l'Iran, l'Iraq, l'Afghanistan et le Pakistan; estime que l'expérience militaire dans des pays tels que l'Afghanistan et l'Iraq les dix années passées doit faire l'objet d'une évaluation; invite l'Union européenne et les États-Unis à continuer à œuvrer à une stratégie mondiale globale en faveur du développement socioéconomique et durable, et en particulier de l'amélioration de la situation des femmes;
