8 million additional jobs have been created in the EU – of which 5.5 million are in the euro area – since the current Commission took office.[1] Unemployment stands at 7.5% in the EU and 8.9% in the euro area, the lowest levels in nine and eight years respectively.

In the face of rising unemployment, calls on the Member States to step up staffing levels in employment offices in order to deal with the increasing numbers of job seekers; believes that public employment offices can play a greater role as lifelong service providers, offering facilities for evaluating skills, establishing profiles and providing training, individual professional guidance and consultation services for clients (both workers and employers);
31. au vu de la montée du chômage, invite les États membres à relever le nombre d'employés au sein des services d'aide à l'emploi pour répondre à l'augmentation du nombre de demandeurs d'emploi; considère que les services de l'emploi peuvent jouer un rôle élargi en tant que prestataires de formation continue, en offrant des services d'évaluation des compétences, d'établissement du profil professionnel, de formation et d'orientation professionnelle individuelle, ainsi que des conseils aux clients (employés et employeurs);

(K) Whereas the Commission argues that the EGF support was also offered to all the workers made redundant; whereas, however, some of them had already found jobs, retired or did not express interest in participating in the measures; whereas the Commission further argues that, additionally, the implementation system of the EGF in Poland requires that workers receiving the assistance must be formally registered as unemployed at the Poviat Labour Offices and whereas, therefore, there might be a small margin of people who do not fall into any of the groups mentioned, as they decided not to register at the Labour Offices and will therefore not participate;

In this case, the status of worker shall be retained for no less than six months.
s'il se trouve en chômage involontaire dûment constaté à la fin de son contrat de travail à durée déterminée inférieure à un an ou après avoir été involontairement au chômage pendant les douze premiers mois et s'est fait enregistré en qualité de demandeur d'emploi auprès du service de l'emploi compétent; dans ce cas, il conserve le statut de travailleur pendant au moins six mois.
