Under Regulation No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents, an official wishing to have access to data which form the basis for the statistical calculations underlying the correction coefficients applicable to officials’ remuneration must submit an application for access under that Regulation.

Noting the Commission's decision of 16 October 2002 (PV(2002)1585) to prepare a reasoned opinion about discrimination against foreign language lecturers in Italian universities, and to authorise formal contacts on this issue with Italian State officials, I wish to ask the Commission how speedily it intends to bring to a satisfactory conclusion this disgracefully long-drawn-out case.
