But, without the fall in import prices, in particular oil prices, the Community would have recorded in 1986 an inflation rate that was at least one percentage point higher, a more modest growth rate, down by between one quarter and one half of percentage point, and an unemployment rate which, instead of levelling out at an already unacceptably high level, would have probably risen still further.
