The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe / the European Union of Crafts and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (UNICE/UEAPME), and the Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation (ECPE) have signed a framework agreement on telework aimed at ensuring greater security for teleworkers employed in the EU.
La Confédération européenne des syndicats (CES), l'Union des confédérations de l'industrie et des employeurs d'Europe / Union européenne de l'artisanat et des petites et moyennes entreprises (UNICE/UEAPME) et le Centre européen des entreprises à participation publique (CEEP) ont signé un accord-cadre sur le télétravail visant à procurer plus de sécurité aux télétravailleurs salariés dans l'UE.

I understand where these amendments are coming from, in essence, but I should nevertheless like to emphasise the fact that the European Trade Union Confederation once again spoke to the chairmen of the political groups, a few days ago, to say that the adoption of this directive, in unamended form, would send a strong signal that social progress at EU level was both necessary and possible, and that social Europe was still alive.
Et je voudrais, à cette occasion, répondre aux collègues de la GUE qui ont déposé quelques amendements, dont je peux comprendre l’intérêt sur le fond, mais je voudrais quand même souligner le fait que la Confédération européenne des syndicats s’est encore adressée au président des groupes politiques, il y a quelques jours, pour dire que l’adoption de cette directive, sans amendement, serait un signal fort montrant que le progrès social au niveau de l’Union européenne est nécessaire et possible et que l’Europe sociale vit encore.

The general cross-sector organisations, namely the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE) , the European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), informed the Commission in a joint letter of 29 May 2000 of their wish to initiate the process provided for in Article 139 of the Treaty.

That is why, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Bushill-Matthews, as rapporteur for the European Parliament with others in 2001, and having helped to get the request for an ambitious revision of this directive adopted by a large majority in Parliament, as was the case again in 2007, I cannot accept this criticism of the European Trade Union Confederation.

The technical coordination shall be provided for the workers' delegation by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and for the employers' delegation by the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE).
