16. For the purpose of ensuring continued occupancy by a recipient of a home acquired by the recipient under the Veterans’ Land Act, chapter V-4 of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1970, the Minister may, with the consent in writing of the recipient, enter into an arrangement with The Director, The Veterans’ Land Act to pay to that Director out of the recipient’s allowance an amount not exceeding the amount of principal and interest, calculated on a monthly basis, as provided in the recipient’s agreement of sale with The Director, The Veterans’ Land Act to be applied against the indebtedness of the recipient under the Veterans’ Land Act.
16. En vue d’assurer une occupation continue, par un bénéficiaire, d’un logis qu’il a acquis en vertu de la Loi sur les terres destinées aux anciens combattants, chapitre V-4 des Statuts revisés du Canada de 1970, le ministre peut, avec le consentement écrit du bénéficiaire, convenir avec le Directeur des terres destinées aux anciens combattants de payer à ce dernier sur l’allocation du bénéficiaire un montant ne dépassant pas le montant, en principal et en intérêts, calculé sur une base mensuelle, qui est prévu aux termes de la convention de vente entre le bénéficiaire et le Directeur des terres destinées aux anciens combattants. 13 (1) It is agreed that if the Veteran sells or attempts to sell or otherwise dispose of the whole or any part of the said land, or if the Veteran, save with the approval of the Director, fails to remain in actual and personal possession and occupation of the said land, or if he fails to cultivate the said land in a good husbandmanlike manner as provided by this Agreement, or fails to pay promptly any payment hereinbefore mentioned when the same falls due, or fails to comply with any covenant or condition contained in this Agreement or any of the provisions of his Undertaking Precedent to the Granting of a Part III Loan which forms part of his Application for Assistance, the Director may, subject to the provisions of the Veterans’ Land Act and the Regulations made thereunder, without any formal re-entry or retaking and without resort to proceedings in equity or at law, rescind this Agreement.
13 (1) Il est convenu que, si l’ancien combattant vend ou cherche à vendre ou à aliéner autrement la totalité ou une partie dudit bien-fonds, ou si l’ancien combattant, sauf avec l’approbation du Directeur, manque à ses engagements de rester en possession réelle et d’occuper personnellement ledit bien-fonds, ou s’il néglige de cultiver ledit bien-fonds en bon cultivateur, conformément aux stipulations de la présente convention, ou omet d’effectuer promptement à l’échéance tout versement mentionné ci-dessus, ou s’il néglige de se conformer aux conditions ou engagements contenus à ladite convention, ou à l’une quelconque des dispositions de son engagement préalable à l’obtention d’un prêt en vertu de la partie III, lequel engagement fait partie essentielle de sa demande d’aide, le Directeur pourra, sous réserve des dispositions de la Loi sur les terres destinées aux anciens combattants et de son règlement d’exécution, et sans aucune reprise de possession formelle ni recours à des procédures en équité ou en droit, résilier la présente convention.

12. 17. Where a member of the forces has repaid to the Minister the compensating adjustment described in subsection 16(1) for the purpose of qualifying for benefits under the Veterans' Land Act, and subsequently withdraws his application for qualification or his contract with The Director, The Veterans' Land Act is terminated or rescinded, the Minister shall pay to the member an amount equal to the total amount that was repaid by him less the amount of the benefits, if any, received by that member under the Veterans' Land Act as determined by the Minister.
17. Lorsqu’un membre des forces a remboursé au Ministre l’ajustement de compensation décrit au paragraphe 16(1) en vue de devenir admissible aux avantages ou bénéfices prévus par la Loi sur les terres destinées aux anciens combattants, et retire par la suite sa demande d’admissibilité, ou que son contrat avec le Directeur des terres destinées aux anciens combattants est expiré ou annulé, le Ministre doit payer au membre un montant égal au total que ce dernier a remboursé, moins le montant des avantages ou bénéfices, s’il en est, que le membre a reçus en vertu de la Loi sur les terres destinées aux anciens combattants, ainsi que le détermine le Ministre.
