As regard the assessment and certification of the ROs' quality management system, the Commission notes the efforts undertaken by QACE to co-operate with the private Quality System Certification Scheme managed by the International Association of Classification Societies and encourages further synergy insofar as it contributes to achieving the full implementation of the Regulation's requirement.

Calls on the Commission to take the necessary steps to introduce proposals for European statutes for associations, mutual societies and foundations, to propose a feasibility study and an impact assessment for the statutes for associations and mutual societies, and to complete the impact assessment for the statute for foundations in due course;

To avoid possible problems with the ice rules laid down by some classification societies, it would be helpful if states standardised their rules; in this regard there could be unified requirements from the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) or other leading associations in order to avoid such possible conflicts.
Om te voorkomen dat problemen optreden met door classificatiebureaus opgestelde ijsklasseregels, zou het nuttig zijn dat landen hun regels standaardiseren. I think that the fact that the vessel was sailing in an unsuitable condition was the responsibility of the owner, the captain, the oil company that owned the cargo, but above all, it was the responsibility of the classification society ABS, whose inspection conducted in the port of Dubai four months before it sank had not been correctly carried out according to the audit subsequently conducted by the International Association of Classification Societies.
