Cooperation between the Scientific Committees and panels of the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General, the Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Directorate-General, the European Food Safety Authority, the European Centre for Disease Control, the European Medicines Agency and the European Environmental Agency was confirmed at their second meeting, as was their common interest in working together within a common framework for risk assessment.

2007 was a year of major policy achievements for the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General, as it was marked by the adoption of the Second Programme of Community Action in the Field of Health (2008-13) and of the White Paper “Together for Health, a Strategic Approach for the EU 2008-2013”.

The remaining 215 proposals were submitted to peer review panels composed of independent experts to assess all the criteria covered by Commission Decision 2007/103/EC laying down general principles and criteria for the selection and funding of actions under the Public Health Programme (2003-2008)[9], and also of officials from the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General responsible for assessing the policy-relevant criteria.
De resterende 215 voorstellen werden ter collegiale toetsing voorgelegd aan panels van onafhankelijke deskundigen die moesten beoordelen of was voldaan aan alle criteria van Besluit nr. 2007/103/EG van de Commissie tot vaststelling van de algemene beginselen en criteria voor de selectie en de financiering van acties in het kader van het programma „Volksgezondheid” (2003-2008)[9]. Ook functionarissen van het DG Gezondheid en consumentenbescherming die verantwoordelijk waren voor de beoordeling van beleidsgerelateerde criteria, hadden zitting in deze panels.

The evaluation of the applications – in which a representative of the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General participated – resulted in 11 applications being accepted.
Er zijn 13 aanvragen ontvangen. De beoordeling van de aanvragen – waarbij ook een vertegenwoordiger van het directoraat-generaal Gezondheid en consumentenbescherming betrokken was – resulteerde in de goedkeuring van 11 aanvragen.

With regard to electromagnetic fields , the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General started preparing a report on the implementation of Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC on the limitation of exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields.
