At the end of 1999 and in accordance with article 10 of Decision 2717/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 November 1995, the Commission prepared a Communication giving an overall evaluation of the Guidelines for the development of EURO-ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) as a trans-European Network (TEN-ISDN).

9. is ingenomen met het voorstel van de Commissie om de Euromediterrane Parlementaire Vergadering (EMPA) te erkennen als rechtmatige parlementaire vertegenwoordiger van de Unie voor het Middellandse Zeegebied en ondersteunt met kracht het idee om de rol van de EMPA in de betrekkingen met de mediterrane partners te versterken; benadrukt daarom het belang van een verdere formalisering van de rol van deze Euromediterrane parlementaire instantie, als raadgevend lichaam dat betrokken is bij de uitvoering en opstelling van het Euromediterrane beleid; is van oordeel dat de vraag of de EMPA moet worden opengesteld voor parlementaire vertegenwoordigers van landen die niet deel uitmaken van het Proces van Barcelona, maar die zich bij dit nieuwe initiatief willen aansluiten, noodzakelijkerwijze zal moeten worden behandeld door de ter zake bevoegde structuren van deze Vergadering;

I therefore welcome the fact that we were quick in implementing the Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards for motor cars and that the Commission proposal for a Euro 6 standard for goods vehicles has now been put forward.
