On 31 December 1998, the Council adopted Decision 1999/8/EC adopting the Statutes of the Economic and Financial Committee ; these Statutes were revised by Council Decision 2003/476/EC of 18 June 2003 in order to ensure the continued effective functioning of the Committee after the accession of ten Member States on 1 May 2004.
Op 31 december 1998 heeft de Raad Besluit 1999/8/EG houdende aanneming van het statuut van het Economisch en Financieel Comité vastgesteld. Dit statuut is herzien bij Besluit 2003/476/EG van de Raad van 18 juni 2003 om ervoor te zorgen dat het comité na de toetreding van tien lidstaten op 1 mei 2004 goed zou blijven functioneren.

The Statutes of the Economic and Financial Committee, as set out in the Annex to Decision 1999/8/EC, as amended by Decision 2003/476/EC, shall be replaced by the text set out in the Annex hereto.
Het statuut van het Economisch en Financieel Comité, als opgenomen in de bijlage bij Besluit 1999/8/EG, als gewijzigd bij Besluit 2003/476/EG, wordt vervangen door de tekst in bijlage.

The ECB has close relations with other EU policy-makers such as, for example, the Eurogroup, the ECOFIN Council and, at a lower level, the Economic and Financial Committee, the Euro Working Group and the Economic Policy Com-mittee of the EU. Finally, the ECB has a specific and clearly defined role in the operation of the financial assistance and crisis management frameworks that have recently been established.
De ECB onderhoudt nauwe betrekkingen met andere EU-beleidsmakers, zoals de Eurogroep, de Raad Ecofin en, op lager niveau, het Economisch en Financieel Comité, de Euro Working Group en het Comité voor de economische politiek van de EU. The current framework allows for an effective interaction between the various policy makers as, for example, within the Eurogroup and ECOFIN Council, or at lower level in the Economic and Financial Committee and the Economic Policy Committee of the EU. Also this interaction takes place on the basis of the Treaty provisions and in full respect of the ECB’s mandate and independence.
Het huidige kader biedt de mogelijkheid tot doeltreffende interactie met de diverse beleidsmakers, zoals de Eurogroep en de Raad Ecofin of, op lager niveau, het Economisch en Financieel Comité en het Comité voor de economische politiek van de EU. Interaction at technical level with the Commission and national governments also take place, for example, in the Economic and Financial Committee and the Economic Policy Committee of the EU. All these exchanges of views take place according to the provisions of the Treaty, thereby ensuring and always respecting the full independence of the ECB while at the same time supporting the proper functioning of EMU.
Ook zijn er contacten op technisch niveau met de Commissie en nationale overheden, bijvoorbeeld in het Economisch en Financieel Comité en het Comité voor Economische Politiek van de EU. 9. Recalls the concern expressed in its resolution of 14 July 1998 on the Commission communication on the detailed provosions concerning the composition of the Economic and Financial Committee accompanied by a proposal for a Council decision on the detailed provisions concerning the composition of the Economic and Financial Committee (COM(1998) 110 - C4-0222/1998 ) that the efficiency of the Economic Policy Committee and Economic and Financial Committee should be enhanced by streamlining their organisation and responsibilities, to ensure that greater account is taken of structural questions with a view to coordinating economic policies and mapping out common medium-term strategies;

Macro-financial assistance is usually granted for periods of one year, it is not always renewed, it is granted in different areas, different countries, according to the circumstances and we believe, therefore, that the current system of concentrating its control in a particular body, the Economic and Financial Committee, makes sense since this is the group of people with the greatest experience and knowledge of the control and management of this type of aid. I would remind you that the Economic and Financial Committee is not a normal committee.
Normalerwijs worden de macrofinanciële hulpmaatregelen toegekend voor de periode van een jaar. Zij worden niet steeds vernieuwd en zij worden toegekend in verschillende gebieden en in verschillende landen, naar gelang van de omstandigheden.
