Au niveau européen, outre l'ECVAM (European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methodes), il existe l'EPAA (European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to animal testing), dont l'objectif est de promouvoir les alternatives, en collaboration avec la Commission européenne et les grandes entreprises (Pfizer, Johnson&Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, et c.).
