TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

1. merkt op dat de ramp met rode modder in 2010 de ergste industriële ramp is die ooit heeft plaatsgevonden in Hongarije, en herdenkt de slachtoffers vijf jaar na deze tragische gebeurtenis;
1. Notes that the 2010 red mud disaster was Hungary’s worst industrial catastrophe, and commemorates the victims on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of that tragic event;

H. overwegende dat op 24 april 2013 het akkoord houdende een praktische regeling voor de slachtoffers van de Rana Plaza-ramp en hun familieleden (donortrustfonds) werd ondertekend door vertegenwoordigers van de regering van Bangladesh, lokale kledingfabrikanten en internationale kledingmerken, lokale en internationale vakbonden en internationale ngo´s, met als doel de slachtoffers van de ramp en hun familieleden te compenseren; overwegende dat het bedrag om de kosten van alle vorderingen te dekken is vastgesteld op 30 miljoen USD; overwegende dat, twee jaar na de ramp, een totaalbedrag is ingezameld van 27 miljoen USD aan vrijwillige bijdragen uit het bedrijfsleven, hetgeen betekent dat nog 3 miljoen ontbreekt;
H. whereas on 24 April 2013, the ‘Understanding for a Practical Arrangement on Payments to the Victims of the Rana Plaza Accidents and their Families’ (Donor Trust Fund), to compensate the victims of the disaster and their families, was signed by the representatives of the Government of Bangladesh, local garment manufacturers and international garment brands, local and international trade unions and international NGOs; whereas the amount determined to cover the costs of all claims is USD 30 million; whereas, as of the second anniversary of the disaster, the total amount raised by voluntary corporate contributions was around USD 27 million, thus leaving 3 million outstanding;

In the event of a disaster within the Union, or of an imminent disaster, which is likely to result in a call for assistance from one or more Member States, the Member State in which the disaster occurs or is likely to occur shall, without delay, notify the Commission that a possible request for assistance through the ERCC can be expected, in order to enable the Commission, as appropriate, to inform the other Member States and to activate its competent services.

21. Takes the view that the criterion based on the income threshold could be used as a general basic criterion for all types of disaster; stresses that, in the event that it is set as an indicator for determining the eligibility of a regional disaster, it should be adjusted in line with regional GDP in the last year for which official figures are available, applying a pre-defined weighting factor which would include losses that are not quantifiable in terms of income and the direct and indirect effects that generally accompany a regional disaster, which are frequently far greater than those calculated in terms of income;

Voor wat betreft Slovenië voldoet de ramp aan de criteria van "grote natuurramp", overeenkomstig artikel 2, lid 2, van Verordening (EG) nr. 2012/2002 van de Raad. Voor Kroatië en Oostenrijk is de ramp gekwalificeerd als ramp "met natuurlijke oorzaak".
As regards Slovenia, the disaster qualifies as a “major natural disaster” in accordance with Article 2(2) of Council Regulation (EC) No 2012/2002. As regards Croatia and Austria the disaster has been qualified as "of natural origin".

Om hulp te kunnen verlenen bij een ramp die kwantitatief gesproken weliswaar aanzienlijk is maar niet de vereiste drempelwaarden bereikt, kan onder uitzonderlijke omstandigheden ook steun worden verleend wanneer een buurland dat in aanmerking komt door dezelfde ramp getroffen is, of wanneer het grootste deel van de bevolking van een specifieke regio getroffen is door een ramp met zware en langdurige gevolgen voor de levensomstandigheden.
In order to permit interventions in the case of disasters that, while important, do not reach the minimum scale required, assistance may also be granted under exceptional circumstances in case an eligible neighbouring country is affected by the same disaster, or whenever the major part of the population of a specific region is affected by a disaster with serious and lasting repercussions on living conditions.
