The Committee welcomes the "fair trade" marking initiatives and wishes to assist in their further development. It recommends that: - certification of the products cover the supplier organization and the terms of trade; - the fair trade marking movement devise a more appropriate term to describe its activities; this is to ensure that the public understands that the intention is to improve the position and condition of "third world" producers of marked products; - the Commission create a special budget heading to fund development of this work in the medium term (in the long term, the work should generate its own sustainable funding).
