39. The Board may exempt from any of the provisions of sections 44 to 51 and 52 to 56 any ship of Class I or Class II carrying not more than 36 passengers if it is satisfied that the ship is fitted with an efficient fire detection system complying with the requirements of section 57, capable of g
iving a visible and audible alarm signal at one or more points in the ship so as to come rapidly to the notice of the master and the crew of t
he ship, which will indicate the presence and position of any fire i
n any accommodation ...[+++]space or service space, other than a space that, in the opinion of the Board, affords no substantial risk.
39. Le Bureau pourra exempter de toute disposition des articles 44 à 51 et des articles 52 à 56 tout navire classe I ou classe II qui ne transporte pas plus de 36 passagers, s’il estime que ce navire est muni d’un système efficace de détection d’incendie répondant aux prescriptions de l’article 57, pouvant donner un signal avertisseur optique et sonore en un ou plusieurs points du navire de façon à attirer rapidement l’attention du capitaine et de l’équipage, et indiquant la présence et le lieu d’un incendie dans tout local habité ou de service, autre qu’un local qui, de l’avis du Bureau, ne comporte aucun risque important.
