Its regime for foreign investments in the automotive sector initiated in 2005 ("TRIMs 1") and extended to car components in 2006 was made more stringent in 2010 ("TRIMs 2") to the point that it would have been, upon Russia's accession to the WTO, declared contrary to the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs) which forbids the investment measures in goods' production that can cause trade-restrictive and distorting effects.
Le régime qu'il applique aux investissements étrangers dans le secteur automobile, introduit en 2005 ("MIC 1") et étendu aux composants automobiles en 2006, a été durci en 2010 ("MIC 2") au point qu'après l'adhésion de la Russie à l'OMC, il aurait été déclaré contraire à l'accord de cette organisation sur les mesures concernant les investissements et liées au commerce (AMIC), lequel interdit les mesures d'investissement dans la production de biens qui peuvent avoir des effets de restriction et de distorsion des échanges.

This workshop, organised at the initiative of the Presidency in cooperation with the Commission and the automotive industry, included certain topics discussed in the Commission's Communication on the European Automotive Industry and concentrated mainly on "component suppliers" and "the regulatory approach to the automotive sector".
Ce séminaire, organisé à l'initiative de la Présidence, en collaboration avec la Commission et l'industrie automobile, a repris certains thèmes abordés dans la Communication de la Commission sur l'Industrie Automobile européenne et a axé principalement ses travaux sur « les fournisseurs de composants » ainsi que sur « l'approche réglementaire pour le secteur automobile ».
