Whereas by Order in Council P.C. 2014-591 of May 15, 2014, the Governor in Council, pursuant to subsection 32(4) of An Act to implement conventions between Canada and Spain, Canada and the Republic of Austria, Canada and Italy, Canada and the Republic of Korea, Canada and the Socialist Republic of Romania and Canada and the Republic of Indonesia and agreements between Canada and Malaysia, Canada and Jamaica and Canada and Barbados and a convention between Canada and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the avoidance of double taxation with respect to income tax, directed that a proclamation do issue giving notice of the entry into force on December 17, 2013 of the supplementary agreement, done at Bridgetown on November 8, 2011, that amends the Agreement between Canada and Barbados for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital, done at Bridgetown on January 22, 1980;

Now know you that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our proclamation give notice of the entry into force on December 17, 2013 of the supplementary agreement, done at Bridgetown on November 8, 2011, a copy of which is annexed to this proclamation, that amends the Agreement between Canada and Barbados for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital, done at Bridgetown on January 22, 1980.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 32(2), I have the honour today to table, in both official languages, the following treaties entitled: Convention on Cluster Munitions, done at Dublin on May 30, 2008; Mutual Recognition Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the United Mexican States for Conformity Assessment of Telecommunications Equipment, done in Honolulu on November 12, 2011; Protocol amending the Agreement between Canada and Barbados for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income on Capital, done at Bridgetown on January 22, 1980, which was also done at Bridgetown on November 8, 2011; and Protocol amending the Convention between the Government of Canada and the Government of the Republic of Singapore for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, done in Singapore on March 6, 1976, and also done at Singapore on November 29, 2011.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1) I have the honour to present to the House, in both official languages, the report of the Canadian Parliamentary Delegation of the Canadian Section of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Americas, FIPA, respecting its participation to the trade knowledge workshop and bilateral visit held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and Bridgetown, Barbados from March 17 to 20.
Monsieur le Président, conformément au paragraphe 34(1) du Règlement, j'ai l'honneur de présenter à la Chambre, dans les deux langues officielles, le rapport de la délégation parlementaire canadienne au Forum interparlementaire des Amériques, le FIPA, portant sur sa participation à l'atelier sur le commerce et à la visite bilatérale à Port-of-Spain, à Trinité-et-Tobago, et à Bridgetown, à la Barbade, qui se sont tenus du 17 au 20 mars.

Just to slip in a word about Bridgetown, it so happens that Bridgetown is in Barbados and that Barbados is regarded as a tourist destination, like the entire Caribbean.

1. Welcomes the fact that in 2006 the JPA provided a framework for an open, democratic, in-depth dialogue on the negotiation of EPAs between the EU and the ACP sub-regions; also welcomes the adoption at Bridgetown of an urgent resolution on the stage reached in the negotiations on the EPAs, which set out the concerns of the EU and ACP representatives on their potential negative impact on the overall aim of the sustainable development of the ACP countries;

A. whereas debates took place at Vienna and Bridgetown (in June and November 2006 at the 11th and 12th sessions respectively) concerning the stage reached in the negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) and in which Mr Peter Mandelson (Commissioner responsible for Trade) and Mrs Billie Miller (Barbadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade) took part,
