Following complaints by another butac manufacturer, the Commission investigated the prices at which Buna sells butac in the Community, as well as the way this company is financed by the THA, to which it belongs.
A la suite d'une plainte déposée par un autre producteur d'acétate de butyle, la Commission a enquêté sur les prix de vente de l'acétate de butyle pratiqués par Buna AG dans la Communauté ainsi que sur le mode de financement de la société par la THA à laquelle elle appartient.

The Commission has decided to initiate the procedure provided for in Article 93.2 of the EEC Treaty against aid granted by the Treuhandanstalt (THA) to Buna AG for its production and marketing of butac (butyl acetate), a product used by the paint industry.
La Commission a décidé d'engager la procédure de l'article 93 paragraphe 2 du traité CEE à l'encontre d'une aide accordée par la Treuhandanstalt (THA) à Buna AG pour la production et la commercialisation d'acétate de butyle, produit utilisé dans le secteur de la peinture.

On the basis of information provided by the German Government, the Commission concluded that guarantees and loans provided by the THA to Buna had been misused, thus allowing this company to continue to produce and sell butac at conditions that would not be profitable even to its more modern and efficient competitors.
