Ex-post evaluations for 1994-99 concerning Objectives 5(a) and 5(b) and Leader II: The Member States and regions presented a large number of evaluation studies for the measures supported from the Structural Funds in 1994-99 regarding the setting-up of young farmers, less favoured areas, investment in agricultural holdings, processing and marketing of agricultural products, Objective 5(b) programmes and the Leader II Community Initiative. These studies were carried out at national level using guidelines issued by the Commission, which meanwhile initiated the process of synthesising this information in order to draw conclusions at Community level.
Évaluations ex post 1994-1999 concernant l'objectif 5a, l'objectif 5b et LEADER II : les États membres et les régions ont présenté de nombreuses études d'évaluation concernant les actions qui ont bénéficié du soutien des Fonds structurels durant la période 1994-1999. Ces actions ont concerné l'installation de jeunes agriculteurs, les régions défavorisées, l'investissement dans des exploitations agricoles, la transformation et la commercialisation des produits agricoles, les programmes objectif 5b et l'initiative communautaire LEADER II. Les études ont été réalisées au niveau national conformément aux orientations publiées par la Commission qui, entre-temps, a mis en chantier une synthèse de ces informations afin d'en tirer des conclusions au niveau communautaire.

This is also linked to a low demand in certain areas where the initially reserved budget could not be fully allocated and accordingly the funds were redistributed to other more in-demand areas.

The Programme, in synergy with other Community initiatives and funding, should contribute to better knowledge of and information on the prevention, diagnosis and control of major diseases.

With a view to entering in the accounts the resources available in the reserve fund or to operating the mutual financial support arrangements between the accounts of the various funds as required pursuant to Article 3(6) of Regulation (EC) No 718/1999, each fund shall communicate the following information to the Commission at the beginning of each year:

(18) Whereas any content policy actions should be complementary to ongoing national and Community initiatives, as outlined notably in the Commission's action plan 'Europe's way to the information society: an action plan`, and should be performed in synergy with other Community activities in the field such as the INFO 2000 programme (8), with Community research programmes (programmes concerned with advanced technology, advanced communications services and telematics) and with Community education, training, cultural and SME actions and initiatives, and with the Structural Funds;
