RELATIONS AVEC L'AMERIQUE LATINE Le Conseil a entendu un exposé du Vice-Président Marín présentant trois documents adoptés récemment par son institution concernant - les perspectives de renforcement du partenariat entre l'Union européenne et l'Amérique latine pour les années 1996-2000 ; - le projet de directives de négociation d'un nouvel accord avec le Mexique ; - la signature de l'accord-cadre interrégional de coopération avec le Mercosur, envisagée pour le 15 décembre 1995 en marge du Conseil européen de Madrid.

At the initiative of Mr Marín, the Commission today adopted draft negotiating directives for a new framework cooperation agreement between the European Union and Chile, thus responding to the latter's wish to deepen and extend its bilateral relations with the EU and reflecting the Union's readiness to give Chile a positive response in line with the decision taken at the Essen European Council meeting in December last year.
La Commission, à l'initiative du Vice-Président Marín, a adopté aujourd'hui le projet de directive de négociation pour un nouvel accord-cadre de coopération entre l'Union Européenne et le Chili. La démarche répond d'une part aux souhaits du Chili de renforcer et étendre ses relations bilatérales avec l'Union et, d'autre part, à la volonté de celle-ci d'y répondre positivement, tel que le Sommet de Essen de décembre 1994 l'a décidé.
