The term " Metis" has become the favourite term of self-identification of our people over the past two decades, although earlier references to our communities and people used such term as " Eskimo half-breeds," " native," " mixed-bloods," " part-Eskimo," " liveyeres," " planters," " settlers," " Labradorian" and " Kablunangajuit" .
Le terme «métis» est celui que nos gens préfèrent utiliser depuis deux décennies pour s'identifier, mais notons tout de même que, auparavant, nos communautés et nos habitants portaient divers noms: «sang-mêlé», «autochtones», «d'origine eskimo», «liveyeres», «planters», «settlers», «Labradorien» et «Kablunangajuit».
