In view of the Commission’s support for the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant in Lithuania, what approach does the Commission take to Turkey’s plans to install a nuclear power plant based on CANDU, given that this technological system is proliferating and that weapons grade plutonium can easily be produced with this type of power plant; and that in certain operating ranges, the CANDU reactor is similar to the RBMK in terms of safety?
Alors qu’elle a recommandé la fermeture de la centrale nucléaire d’Ignalina, en Lituanie, comment la Commission réagit-elle au projet d’implantation en Turquie d’une centrale nucléaire de la filière CANDU, étant donné que ce système technologique connaît une véritable prolifération et permet de produire aisément du plutonium convenant pour des applications militaires, et que dans certains régimes de fonctionnement, le réacteur CANDU est comparable, du point de vue de la sécurité, aux réacteurs de technologie RBMK ?
