Therefore, in order to distinguish, within the category of wines without PDO/PGI, those which fall under the sub-category ‘varietal wines’ from those which do not benefit from this openness, specific rules on the use of optional particulars, should be established on one hand for wines with protected designations of origin and geographical indications, and on the other hand for wines without protected designation of origin and geographical indication, bearing in mind that also covers ‘varietal wines’.
Par conséquent, pour faire une distinction dans la catégorie des vins sans AOP/IGP, entre ceux qui relèvent de la sous-catégorie des «vins de cépage» et les autres, il importe d'établir des règles spécifiques applicables à l'utilisation d'indications facultatives, d'une part pour les vins avec appellation d'origine protégée et indication géographique protégée et, d'autre part, pour les vins sans appellation d'origine protégée ou indication géographique protégée, en ayant à l'esprit qu'elles couvrent également les «vins de cépage».
