The fire came to be known as the Okanagan Mountain Park fire, the largest interface wild fire in Canadian history, and before it was controlled, it had burned nearly 26,000 hectares of forest through to the south slopes of the City of Kelowna and into the city, consuming 239 residential homes with an estimated loss of $100 million.
