Accordingly, the animal health conditions and the veterinary certification laid down in Annex VII to Decision 93/195/EEC should be extended to the equestrian competitions of the Asian Games carried out under the auspices of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).

Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission, the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the accession countries, national and international sports federations, the FEI (International Federation for Equestrian Sports), the Council of Europe, the International Olympic Committee and the WADA.

Calls on international, European and national sports federations to accept in their statutes the right to have recourse to ordinary courts, but recognises that the principle of self-regulation by national authorities, leagues and competitions underpins and justifies the structures of the European sport model and the fundamental principles governing the organisation of sport competitions;

Calls on EU national sports federations and European sports organisations to ensure that their procedures for licensing sports associations comply with the basic principles of financial transparency, are non-discriminatory and are in accordance with basic internal market provisions and principles, so as to curb distortions of competition; considers that sports organisations must ensure that the requirements regarding transparency and licensing are complied with and that non-compliance is punished;

Calls on FIFA and the sporting goods companies concerned to make sure that no child is employed in the production of FIFA-licensed sportswear and footballs, implement the FIFA Code of Labour Practice that was agreed upon by FIFA, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, ITGLF and the International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees (now UNI) in 1996, and agree on a transparent, credible and independent system for the monitoring and verification of production in the football industry;
