The natural environment associated with the designation ‘Beaufort’ is characterised by the massifs of the Internal Alps, as defined principally by compact internal crystalline massifs, as well as sedimentary rocks in the Briançonnaise zone and, in part, external crystalline massifs in which may be present soft shale-type sedimentary rock.

Subject to Article 3 of this Decision, the association aims at supporting the OCTs in their efforts to take part in relevant international, regional and/or sub-regional cooperation initiatives as well as regional or sub-regional integration processes, in line with their own aspirations and in accordance with objectives and priorities defined by the competent OCTs authorities.

A referral shall be made to the Committee in the cases and according to the procedures laid down in the Internal Agreement between the Representatives of the Governments of the Member States, meeting within the Council, on the Financing and Administration of Community Aid under the Financial Protocol to the Partnership Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Community and its Member States signed in Cotonou (Benin) on 23 June 2000 and the allocation of financial assistance for the Overseas Countries and Territories to which Part Four of the EC Treaty applies(1), signed in Brussels on 18 September 2000 (hereinafter referred to as the "Internal Agreement") and, where appropriate, in Council Decision 2001/822/EC of 27 November 2001 on the association of the overseas countries and territories with the European Community ("Overseas Association Decision")(2).

Le comité est saisi dans les cas et selon les procédures prévues par l'accord interne entre les représentants des gouvernements des États membres, réunis au sein du Conseil, relatif au financement et à la gestion des aides de la Communauté dans le cadre du protocole financier de l'accord de partenariat entre les États d'Afrique, des Caraïbes et du Pacifique et la Communauté européenne et ses États membres, signé à Cotonou (Bénin) le 23 juin 2000, et à l'affectation des aides financières destinées aux pays et territoires d'outre-mer auxquels s'appliquent les dispositions de la quatrième partie du traité CE(1), signé à Bruxelles le 18 septembre 2000, ci-après dénommé "accord interne", et, le cas échéant, par la décision 2001/822/CE du Conseil du 27 novembre 2001 relative à l'association des pays et territoires d'outre-mer à la Communauté européenne ("décision d'association outre-mer")(2).
