11. The Commission has made considerable progress in improving co-ordination between INTERREG and PHARE CBC, where joint co-ordination structures, joint programming and selection procedures have been in place for several years.

Representation of the Research Grouping on the Joint Undertaking Governing Board was considered necessary owing to the importance of fundamental research to this Joint Technology Initiative (JTI).
