Welcomes the statements by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoğlu, offering condolences and recognising atrocities against the Ottoman Armenians as a step in the right direction; encourages Turkey to use the commemoration of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide as an important opportunity to continue its efforts, including the opening of the archives, to come to terms with its past, to recognise the Armenian Genocide and thus to pave the way for a genuine reconciliation between the Turkish and Armenian peoples;

Reiterates the importance of European Union internal policy promoting adherence to international human rights law and the need for Member States to legislate in a way consistent with, inter alia, the obligations arising out of the Geneva Conventions and the Additional Protocols thereto, the Convention against Torture, the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute; welcomes the progress made in the application of universal jurisdiction in some Member States; in pursuit of greater coherence of internal and external policies, encourages the Council, the Commission and the Member States to incorporate the fight against impunity for serious international crimes in the development of a common European Union area of freedom, security and justice;

Take measures to abide by the February 2007 judgment of the International Court of Justice on the case brought by Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia and Montenegro regarding application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
Prendre des mesures pour se conformer à l'arrêt rendu par la Cour internationale de Justice en février 2007 concernant la plainte déposée par la Bosnie-et-Herzégovine à l'encontre de la Serbie-et-Monténégro, dans le cadre de l'application de la convention pour la prévention et la répression du crime de génocide.

On the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina's relations with its neighbours have been good, although certain strains have appeared in particular in relation to the ruling of the International Court of Justice on Bosnia and Herzegovina's lawsuit against Serbia and Montenegro for genocide.
