The partnership which we are establishing by applying Article 169, is an innovation, apparently without precedent, and we therefore warmly welcome it: it is a genuine, tangible contribution to the fight against poverty diseases, a fight in which the European Union has shouldered its responsibilities by taking up its position on the front line, as the leading world donor.
Le partenariat que nous sommes en train d'instituer, en appliquant l'article 169, représente une nouveauté qui me semble sans précédent, et nous le saluons donc positivement : il s'agit d'une contribution concrète et tangible à la lutte contre les maladies liées à la pauvreté, une lutte qui voit l'Union européenne assumer ses responsabilités en se plaçant en première ligne, comme premier donateur au monde.
