At the end of these discussions, President Nujoma and Mr Marin signed the National Indicative Programme for Namibia under the Fourth Lomé Convention, to which Namibia acceded in December 1990.

The excellent state of relationships between Namibia and the European Community, underlined when Vice-President MARIN officially visited Namibia in March 1992 and signed the National Indicative Programme of the Lomé IV Convention with President Dr Sam NUJOMA, was again reaffirmed by both parties.

On the other hand, for some time now the Community has been running a Special Programme for Assistance for the victims of apartheid in South Africa and Namibia, which today covers 222 projects in the two countries for a total amount of nearly 56 Million ECU. These projects are largely focused on the sectors of education and training, and social, humanitarian and legal assistance programmes.
D'autre part, la Communauté a mis en oeuvre depuis quelque temps un programme spécial d'assistance aux victimes de l'apartheid en Afrique du Sud et en Namibie, programme qui couvre aujourd'hui dans les deux pays 222 projets pour un montant total de près de 56 millions d'ECU concentrés sur l'éducation et la formation, des initiatives à caractère social et humanitaire et des actions d'assistance juridique.
