35. Notes that some progress has been made regarding the North, particularly with the election of mayors through Kosovo-wide elections and the increased number of EU-funded projects in the North; stresses, however, the need to proceed with the establishment of the Association of Serbian Municipalities, which should further lessen the need for parallel structures; notes at the same time that further continuous efforts will be needed to bring the ethnic Albanian and Serbian communities closer together; calls for a joint solution to the problem of the Mitrovica bridge, which is currently hindering the free movement of people;

Welcomes Kosovo’s first ever country-wide local elections held under Kosovan law on 3 November, 17 November and 1 December 2013 as having marked a huge step forward for democracy in Kosovo and for citizens’ confidence in the democratic processes underpinning the normalisation process, and welcomes the overall orderly conduct of the elections, as assessed in the preliminary statements of the EU Election Observation Mission (EOM); welcomes the fact that Kosovo’s first woman mayor was elected; continues to stress the need to encourage women candidates to participate in future elections; welcomes the measures taken by Kosovan authorities to enhance trust in the country’s institutions, for example the strong stand-by mechanism by which citizens can complain about intimidation and irregularities on election day; welcomes the visible voter turnout in Serbian-dominated municipalities to the south of the Ibar river as a crucial step towards the formation of the Association of Serbian Municipalities; stresses, in this regard, that the failure to inaugurate a new mayor in North Mitrovica and the subsequent call for new elections in this municipality must not hinder the continuation of the process and the full implementation of the 19 April 2013 agreement; strongly condemns the murder of Dimitrije Janicijevic, municipal councillor of North Mitrovica, and calls for the relevant authorities to start immediately the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice;
5. se félicite de l'organisation, les 3 novembre, 17 novembre et 1 décembre 2013, des toutes premières élections municipales à l'échelle du Kosovo en vertu de la législation du pays, car il s'agit d'un énorme pas en avant pour la démocratie au Kosovo et pour l'instauration de la confiance des citoyens dans les processus démocratiques qui sous-tendent le processus de normalisation, et se félicite du bon déroulement des élections, comme l'indiquent les déclarations préliminaires de la mission d'observation électorale de l'UE (MOE); se félicite du fait qu'une femme ait pour la première fois été élue maire au Kosovo; continue de mettre l'accent sur la nécessité d'encourager les femmes à se porter candidates aux élections à venir; accueille favorablement les mesures prises par les autorités du Kosovo pour promouvoir la confiance dans les institutions du pays, comme par exemple le un solide mécanisme de veille grâce auquel les citoyens peuvent se plaindre en cas d'intimidation ou signaler des irrégularités le jour du scrutin; se félicite du taux de participation visible dans les municipalités à dominante serbe vivant au sud de la rivière Ibar, qu'il considère comme un pas essentiel en vue de la formation de l'association des municipalités serbes; souligne, à cet égard, l'échec de la nomination d'un nouveau maire à Mitrovica Nord et le fait que la convocation subséquente à de nouvelles élections ne doit pas empêcher la continuation du processus et la pleine exécution de l'accord du 19 avril 2013; condamne fermement le meurtre de Dimitrije Janicijevic, conseiller municipal de Mitrovica Nord, et invite les autorités compétentes à immédiatement ouvrir une enquête et attraire les coupables devant la justice;

Many organizations, such as the Forest Products Association of Canada, the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, the Canadian Institute of Forestry, the steelworkers union, the Ontario Forest Industries Association and the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association, all have made positive suggestions.
