The European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO) has been working in Northern Iraq since 1991 and its programme, based in the districts of Sulaymaniah, Erbil and Dohuk, has been established to tackle the problems of: food and medical shortages, water and sanitation, sunna-pest control, malaria, integrated resettlement and rehabilitation of returnees, demining, prosthesis, rehabilitation of public health services and education.
