The aim is to develop novel optical manipulation techniques, for "optical tweezers", whereby the momentum carried by the photons of an intense laser beam can be used to manipulate microscopic objects, ranging from atoms to particles in the micron size range.

L'objectif est de mettre au point de nouvelles techniques de manipulation optique (pour des «pinces optiques»): en effet, la quantité de mouvement des photons provenant d'un faisceau laser intense peut être utilisée pour manipuler des objets microscopiques allant d'atomes à des particules de l'ordre d'un micron.
