Quite correctly, the resolution adopted today points out the inconsistency between the European Commission’s action in announcing its intention actively to strive for the destruction of anti-personnel mines and support for victims who for the most part, remember, are children, whilst at the same time deleting the specific anti-personnel mine budget line at the end of 2006.
De façon pertinente, la résolution adoptée aujourd'hui dénonce une véritable incohérence. D'une part, la Commission affiche son intention de lutter activement pour la destruction des mines antipersonnel et de soutenir les victimes, pour la plupart des enfants. D'autre part, elle abroge la ligne budgétaire dédiée à cette action à la fin de l'année 2006.

The aid, managed by the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO), will enable two European non-governmental organisations to carry out actions worth ECU 1.95 million to relieve the effects of anti-personnel mines on the population of Northern Iraq and a German non-governmental organisation to carry out a programme worth ECU 940,000 over the next six months for victims of civil war in Sri Lanka.
Cette aide, gérée par l'Office humanitaire de la Communauté européenne (ECHO), permettra à deux organisations non gouvernementales européennes de mener des opérations d'un montant de 1,95 million d'Ecus visant à soulager les victimes des mines antipersonnel dans le nord de l'Irak et à une organisation non gouvernementale allemande de réaliser au cours des six mois à venir un programme d'un montant de 940 000 Ecus en faveur des victimes de la guerre civile au Sri Lanka.
