PRESS STATEMENT ON THE ACTIVITY OF THE TWELVE IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN RIGHTS - Cooperation in the field of human rights, which led earlier, in 1986, to a ministerial declaration and, in 1987, to the setting up of a special working group in accordance with the wishes of the European Parliament, has developed further in 1989. - This has been a year of contrasts in human rights, marked by progress, particularly in some Eastern European countries, but also by disappointed hopes and the continuation of disturbing situations.
COMMUNICATION A LA PRESSE SUR L'ACTION DES DOUZE DANS LE DOMAINE DES DROITS DE L'HOMME - La coopération dans le domaine des droits de l'homme qui s'était déjà traduite, en 1986, par une déclaration ministérielle et, en 1987, par la création d'un groupe de travail spécialisé, conformément au souhait du Parlement Européen, s'est encore développée en 1989. - Cette année a été pour les droits de l'homme une année de contrastes, marquée par des progrès, en particulier dans certains pays d'Europe de l'Est, mais également par des espoirs déçus et par le maintien de situations préoccupantes.
