It seems to me this is one of those times when a fundamental, democratic principle is square and centre on the table in front of us and we must either toe the line on the basis of the instructions from across the street, or do the right thing and say that the principle of democracy is far too important for us to allow this particular provision to be cleared through this house.
Il me semble qu'en l'occurrence, nous nous trouvons dans l'un de ces cas où nous sommes confrontés à un principe démocratique fondamental et que nous avons deux solutions: ou bien nous conformer aux instructions venant de l'autre côté de la rue, ou bien faire la chose appropriée, c'est-à-dire déclarer que le principe de la démocratie est trop important pour que cette Chambre puisse adopter ce projet de loi.
