5. Calls on the Commission to put before the European Parliament and the Council within the next six months a proposal for amending Council Regulation (EC) No 1185/2003 in which the theoretical ratios of fin weight to live weight are revised in accordance with the criteria set out in the scientific reports, and especially the 2005 ICCAT report, particularly in respect of the species Prionacea glauca, for which ICCAT's Standing Committee on Research and Statistics recommends the fin-to-live weight ratio of 6.5%, so that these ratios correspond to the morphological characteristics of species;
5. invite la Commission à présenter au Parlement et au Conseil, dans un délai de six mois, une proposition de modification du règlement (CE) n° 1185/2003 et à envisager la révision des pourcentages de poids théorique des nageoires par rapport au poids vif – en particulier pour ce qui concerne l'espèce Prionacea glauca –, conformément aux critères énoncés dans rapports scientifiques et en particulier dans le rapport 2005 de la CICTA, pour que le comité scientifique permanent de recherche et de statistiques de cette dernière recommande un pourcentage de 6,5 % nageoires/poids vif, et afin que ces pourcentages soient adaptés aux caractéristiques morphologiques de cette espèce;

6. Calls on the Commission to put before the European Parliament and the Council within the next six months a proposal for amending Regulation (EC) No 1185/2003 in line with the majority of scientific analyses of shark fin to carcass ratios for Atlantic sharks, including the blue shark (Prionacea glauca), which conclude that a 5% fin to dressed weight (approximately 2.0% of live weight) ratio is an appropriate upper limit for mixed shark fisheries;
6. invite la Commission à présenter au Parlement et au Conseil, dans un délai de six mois, une proposition de modification du règlement (CE) n° 1185/2003, conformément à la majeure partie des analyses scientifiques sur le coefficient nageoire/carcasse pour le requin de l'Atlantique, y compris le requin bleu (Prionace glauca), lesquelles concluent qu'un coefficient de 5 % entre nageoire et poids paré (soit environ 2 % du poids vif) constitue un plafond approprié dans le cadre des pêches mixtes de requins;

E. whereas in the specific case of the Prionacea glauca the maximum 5% live weight ratio of fin weight to body weight does not correspond to its morphology, as a pelagic shark, making it unnecessarily difficult for the Community longline fleet to respect fisheries legislation,
