I then went to the prisons where hundreds of young people had been transferred – Italians, Spanish, Germans, Austrians, Swedes, Swiss, aged between 18 and 20, and I collected their statements: all of them, I repeat all of them, had been beaten, insulted or tortured, many had stitches in their heads, and all that had happened in the barracks after their arrest.
Je me suis ensuite rendu dans les prisons où avaient été transférés des centaines de jeunes italiens, espagnols, allemands, autrichiens, suédois, suisses, âgés de 18 ou 20 ans, et j'ai recueilli leur témoignage : tous - je dis bien : tous - avaient été frappés, insultés, torturés ; nombre d'entre eux portaient des points de suture à la tête, et tout cela s'était produit dans les casernes après leur arrestation.
