Welcomes what the Council has said on the issue of Transdniestria; expects all Member States, however, to use their political relations with Russia in order to urge the Federation to finally assume its responsibilities in Transdniestria, to complete the already long overdue withdrawal of Russian troops, and to comply with the Istanbul commitments; reiterates its call on the leaders in Tiraspol and the authorities in Chisinau to continue negotiations on the new constitution which should lead to the stabilisation of the whole country and stimulate a more democratic and transparent development, which will also help trigger off the urgently needed foreign direct investments; asks the EU to take an active role in bringing about and guaranteeing the end of the conflict;

It is to be welcomed that this mid-term review has triggered off a fresh debate about the reform of the common agricultural policy and the need for changes in various areas, and in particular the establishment of a permanent support system for dried fruit, safeguarding the origin of oils, the COM in bananas and other areas, recalling the principle of sovereignty and food safety and the need to review the export section of the CAP. However, what is not so good is that it emphasises the principle of cofinancing, which could undermine the application of the CAP and above all affect less-developed areas, which we cannot accept.
Il est positif que cette révision intermédiaire relance le débat concernant la réforme de la PAC et la nécessité de pouvoir apporter certains ajustements à différents aspects, notamment la défense de la création d’un système permanent d’aide pour les fruits secs, la protection d’origine des huiles, l’OCM de la banane, et autres, rappelant le principe de la souveraineté et de la sécurité alimentaire et la nécessité de revoir la tendance à l’exportation de la PAC, mais il est négatif qu’elle insiste sur le principe du cofinancement, qui remettrait en cause l’application de la PAC et toucherait surtout les agriculteurs des zones moins développées, ce que nous rejetons.
