The International Olive Council shall make whatever arrangements are appropriate for consultation or cooperation with the United Nations and its organs, in particular the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the Joint FAO/WHO Programme of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and other specialised agencies of the United Nations and with such intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organisations as may be appropriate for the olive sector and as may strive to provide funds to support the activities of the International Olive Council for the benefit of all the Members.

Urges the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and other United Nations and international agencies to press for the rehabilitation of the Iraqi environment, including the badly damaged South Iraqi Marshlands; urges the neighbouring countries of the Tigris and Euphrates basin to facilitate such a rehabilitation and to resolve the issue of water in a regional framework; notes that priority should be given to the protection and rehabilitation of Huwaiza area which undertaking is immediately feasible and subsequently to the wider marsh areas; urges UNESCO to identify the marshlands as a potential World Heritage Site and plan accordingly; urges the Iranian authorities to arrest further degradation of the Hawr-Al-Azim portion of the trans-boundary marshland area, in the Khouzistan province of the Islamic Republic of Iran, through the immediate adoption and implementation of the recent UNEP proposals;
22. presse le programme des Nations unies pour l'environnement (PNUE) et les autres agences des Nations unies et agences internationales à demander d'urgence l'assainissement de l'environnement irakien, y compris des marécages du Sud irakien, qui ont subi des atteintes graves; exhorte les pays voisins du bassin du Tigre et de l'Euphrate à faciliter un tel assainissement et à régler la question de l'eau dans un cadre régional; constate que la priorité devrait être accordée à la protection et à l'assainissement de la région de Huwaiza, dont la mise en œuvre immédiate est possible, puis à l'ensemble des zones marécageuses; demande instamment à l'UNESCO de reconnaître ces marécages comme site potentiel du patrimoine mondial et de planifier en conséquence; invite les autorités iraniennes à arrêter toute dégradation supplémentaire de la région de Hawr-Al-Azim, appartenant à une zone humide transfrontalière de la province du Khousistan (République islamique d'Iran), grâce à l'adoption immédiate et la mise en œuvre des propositions récentes du PNUE;

This pragmatic solution has already been implemented with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), the ILO (International Labour Organization) and UNESCO: - the international organizations perform their own audits, sending a copy of the findings to the Commission; - the international organizations prepare the acccounting and financial documents relating to the activities (programmes or projects) financed by the Community and, at the request of a Community institution, supply any financial document relating thereto; - the Community is entitled to carry out additional checks ( including on-the-spot checks) where operations are financed by the Community.
