(4) If a taxable supply of property by way of lease, licence or similar arrangement is made outside Prince Edward Island to a person resident in Prince Edward Island and not resident in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, British Columbia or Newfoundland and Labrador, or to a person to which the property is delivered or made available, or physical possession of the property is transferred, in Prince Edward Island, and an amount of consideration for the supply becomes due, or is paid without having become due, on or after February 1, 2013 and before April 1, 2013, to the extent that the amount of consideration is a rent, royalty or similar payment attributable to a period on or after April 1, 2013, that amount of consideration is deemed, for the purpose of applying subsection 218.1(1) or 220.08(1) of the Act, to have become due on April 1, 2013 and not to have been paid before that day.

I am sure this House will support the European Union and the United Nations in whatever way is necessary to achieve lasting piece and reconciliation on this tragic but beautiful remote island.

Welcomes the easing of restrictions on the crossing of the Green Line but stresses nevertheless that further steps forward on the way to the reunification of the island must be taken within the framework of the United Nations, whose ‘Comprehensive Settlement of the Cyprus problem’ must be considered the basis for the resumption of talks between the two sides; believes, in this regard, that the ‘goodwill’ package of measures for northern Cyprus is a step in the right direction and urges the Commission to actively support all those forces in both sides striving for peace; calls on the Council to make clear to Turkey that the presence of the Turkish army in the northern part of Cyprus is incompatible with its status as an EU candidate country;

In an almost identically worded statement issued on 10 October 2002 – which does not even mention the direct talks under way or the role of the United Nations – the Northern Cyprus authorities threatened that if the ‘Greek Cypriot administration’ (sic) were to accede, the island would remain divided for good and the eastern Mediterranean would be beset by permanent instability.
