However, the maps of 1996 already point out a project for a high-speed link from Madrid to Valladolid, as well as an infrastructure upgrading project with a view to reaching a speed of about 200 km per hour from Valladolid towards Monforte of Lemos (Orense), followed by a conventional line towards Orense and Santiago.
