In accordance with the mandate adopted by the intergovernmental conference of the member states of the European Patent Organisation in Paris on 24 and 25 June 1999, two working parties were set up to carry out the preparatory work for a reform of the patent system in Europe, particularly with a view to reducing the cost and lead time involved in the granting of a patent, and for the harmonisation of litigation relating to the Community patent.
Conformément au mandat adopté par la conférence intergouvernementale des Etats membres de l'Organisation européenne des brevets, le 24 et 25 juin 1999 à Paris, deux groupes de travail ont été constitués pour préparer la réforme du système des brevets en Europe en ce qui concerne plus particulièrement la réduction du coût et des délais de délivrance du brevet européen, ainsi que l'harmonisation du contentieux du brevet européen.

Welcomes the proposals for a European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion, but calls for more concrete actions to deliver social inclusion, in particular by strengthening the Social Open Method of Coordination, as an integrated strategy involving national and local stakeholders, including people who experience poverty and social exclusion; reiterates its call for a broader agenda to promote decent work, ensure workers‘ rights throughout Europe and improve working conditions, tackle inequality and discrimination, and combat in-work poverty;
32. se réjouit des propositions visant à mettre en place une plateforme européenne contre la pauvreté et l'exclusion sociale mais réclame davantage d'actions concrètes dans le sens de l'inclusion sociale, en particulier en renforçant la méthode ouverte de coordination dans le domaine social, sous la forme d'une stratégie intégrée qui engage les acteurs nationaux et locaux, notamment des personnes frappées par la pauvreté et l'exclusion; appelle une nouvelle fois de ses vœux la mise en place d'un vaste programme de promotion du travail décent, de défense des droits des travailleurs dans l'ensemble de l'Europe, d'amélioration des conditions de travail, et de lutte contre les inégalités et les discriminations et contre le phénomène de la pauvreté des travailleurs;
