– (FR) Mr President, I would like to thank the various speakers who, during the course of this debate, on the one hand have lent their support to the Small Business Act and on the other hand have insisted on rigorous and compulsory monitoring. I am also keen to reassure those who have spoken of making sure that the financial aid is well targeted towards small and medium-sized enterprises: the European Investment Bank aid will indeed be earmarked.
− Monsieur le Président, je remercie les différents intervenants qui, au cours de ce débat, ont, d’une part, apporté leur soutien au Small Business Act, et, d’autre part, insisté sur un suivi rigoureux et contraignant, et je tiens à rassurer ceux qui ont parlé de faire en sorte que les concours financiers soient bien dirigés vers les petites et moyennes entreprises: il y a bien un fléchage prévu des concours de la Banque européenne d’investissement.

I therefore think, and I support the previous speaker, that it is important for the Commission – and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Commissioner for being here – to act and take measures: that there should be investigations and the necessary means put in place to bring an end to these practices, which are unfair, and in many cases abusive.
Je pense donc, et je soutiens l'orateur précédent, qu'il est important pour la Commission – et j'aimerais en profiter pour remercier le commissaire de sa présence – de réagir et de prendre des mesures: que les enquêtes et les moyens nécessaires soient mis en place pour mettre un terme à ces pratiques, qui s'avèrent déloyales et abusives dans de nombreux cas.

– (PT) I realise that it was hard to tell when the Belgian Government was acting in its capacity of President of the European Union and when it was simply acting as a Member State, but I would like to know what really happened and why all these measures were adopted despite being condemned by various speakers as breaching the rights of citizens who were demonstrating peacefully in Belgium during the last summit.
