During the Luxembourg Presidency, we have witnessed the implementation of grand initiatives and innovations which will guide the activities of the European Union over the years to come.
Au cours de la Présidence luxembourgeoise, nous avons assisté à la réalisation de grandes initiatives et d’innovations qui détermineront les activités de l’Union européenne pour les années à venir.

I should like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the Luxembourg Presidency, which has demonstrated great political flair and a tireless willingness to compromise; to the Commission, which has provided technical analyses and guidance in support of the negotiations; and, finally, to my fellow MEP Mr Březina, whose active participation in the meetings and unfailing support I valued very highly.
Je voudrais saisir cette occasion d’exprimer ma profonde gratitude à la présidence luxembourgeoise, qui a fait preuve d’une grande habileté politique et d’une infatigable volonté d’aboutir à un compromis; à la Commission, qui a fourni des analyses techniques et indiqué des lignes directrices pour faciliter les négociations; et, enfin, à mon collègue M. My aim was to reach a first reading agreement and the Luxembourg presidency was very positive and active in this respect.
Mon objectif était d’atteindre un accord en première lecture et la présidence luxembourgeoise a œuvré de manière très positive et très active dans cette optique.

I believe that due to a very constructive approach by my Parliament colleagues, Mrs Descamps and Mrs Gibault, the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, the Media and Sport, as also the inclusive and active role played by the Luxembourg presidency, a good compromise for first reading agreement has been achieved.
Je pense que grâce à l’approche très constructive de mes collègues députées, Mmes Descamps et Gibault, et de la commission de la culture, de la jeunesse, de l’éducation, des médias et des sports ainsi qu’au rôle global et actif joué par la présidence luxembourgeoise, un bon compromis pour un accord en première lecture a été atteint.

While the Commission has no plans to change its current proposal, it supports the efforts of the Luxembourg Presidency’ to reach a political deal in June and looks forward to playing an active and constructive role in the final phase of negotiations.
Bien que la Commission n’envisage pas de modifier sa proposition actuelle, elle soutient les efforts de la présidence luxembourgeoise en vue d’atteindre un accord politique en juin et attend avec impatience de jouer un rôle actif et constructif dans la phase finale des négociations.

In her response, Anne-Marie Sigmund, President of the EESC, briefly listed the main activities the Committee plans during the Luxembourg Presidency and underlined the convergence in the views of the EESC and the Luxembourg ESC on forthcoming priorities.
Dans sa réponse, Mme Anne-Marie Sigmund, présidente du CESE, a procédé à une brève récapitulation des projets du Comité au cours de la présidence luxembourgeoise et a souligné la convergence de vues qui existe entre le CESE et le CES du Luxembourg quant aux priorités à venir.

Common activities during the Luxembourg Presidency were highlighted. In particular, the discussions touched on the joint conference on the mid-term review of the Lisbon Strategy, which the EESC and the Luxembourg ESC are together preparing, and which will be held in Luxembourg on 26-27 January.
L'accent a été mis sur les activités communes qui auront lieu au cours de la présidence luxembourgeoise et, en particulier, les débats ont porté sur la conférence conjointe sur la révision à mi-parcours de la stratégie de Lisbonne, que préparent ensemble le CESE et le CES du Luxembourg et qui se tiendra à Luxembourg les 26 et 27 janvier 2005.

The EESC has published a brochure setting out its principal activities during the Luxembourg Presidency.

Recognising the Parliament's committed support throughout the process and role as the driving force behind the settlement, as well as the "wisdom" that led the Council, under the highly active Luxembourg Presidency, to give its backing to an agreement she considered "entirely honourable to both parties", Mme Cresson also welcomed the fact that the conciliation process had allowed a positive result to be reached only a few months after the Commission put forward its initial proposal.
Reconnaissant l'engagement du Parlement tout au long de la procédure, comme ayant été le moteur de l'accord, mais également "la sagesse" qui a emmené le Conseil - sous la très active présidence luxembourgeoise - à se rallier à un accord qu'elle a jugé "tout à fait honorable pour les deux parties", Madame Cresson s'est félicitée du fait que la conciliation a pu aboutir à un résultat positif quelques mois seulement après que la Commission ait soumis sa proposition initiale.
