Its purpose is the establishment of an EU/Georgia Common Aviation Area. The existing bilateral agreements on air traffic services between the two sides are to be superseded by the new agreement. The agreement is being concluded as part of the EU neighbourhood policy, one of the aims of which is to establish a common aviation area between the EU and its neighbours.
L'objectif de l'accord est de créer un espace aérien commun entre l'Union européenne et la Géorgie. Les accords bilatéraux en vigueur jusqu'à présent, qui réglementaient les services aériens entre les deux parties, doivent être remplacés par ce nouvel accord. Cette étape s'inscrit dans le contexte de la politique de voisinage de l'Union européenne, visant également à la création d'un espace aérien commun entre l'Union européenne et ses voisins.

The aim of these negotiations is to conclude a comprehensive agreement on a Common Aviation Area with Israel combining market opening with a parallel process of regulatory co-operation and/or convergence through mutual recognition in key areas of the EU aviation legislation.
L’objectif de ces négociations est la conclusion d’un accord global sur un espace aérien commun avec Israël, qui associerait l’ouverture du marché à un processus parallèle de coopération et/ou de convergence en matière de réglementation par une reconnaissance mutuelle dans des domaines clés de la législation en matière de transport aérien.

Based on the above your rapporteur believes that the comprehensive negotiation with Israel is a fundamental step towards further development of the EU-Israeli aviation relations and the extension of the Common Aviation Area in the whole Euromed Area.
